Buck Haworth, Chief Executive Officer
Buck Haworth is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Born
Capital, LLC, a Chicago-based company dedicated to providing the
highest quality electronic trading platforms for institutions, hedge
funds and professional traders. With 28 years of trading, audit and
leadership experience in the futures industry, he established the
company in 2003 by assembling a team of experienced professionals
skilled in technology, trader support, sales and clearing operations.
Mr. Haworth was elected Treasurer of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange
Board of Directors for four terms, working with other members of the
Exchange leadership to become the first publicly traded financial
exchange in the United States. As an officer of the Board of Directors
Mr. Haworth was involved in all aspects of the Exchange's business. He
served as Chairman of the Exchange's Audit and Clearing House Risk
committees He collaborated with the Chief Financial Officer to overhaul
the long-standing, complex pricing structure, improving profits while
recognize high value users. Mr. Haworth also implemented an
enterprise-wide risk management structure to assess and monitor risks
in all departments. He was a member of the Exchange for 23 years,
beginning in 1979. He was both a floor broker and a "local" floor
trader, with extensive experience in interest rate and foreign exchange
futures.
In 1991, Mr. Haworth established a proprietary trading group, an
off-floor trading operation trading futures and options. By 1997, the
business covered 30 futures and options markets on seven exchanges.
Mr. Haworth established a clearing membership and floor operation on
the CME for Chicago Corporation, a member of the New York Stock
Exchange. He managed foreign exchange arbitrage operations on the CME
floor, trading between the inter bank market and the CME foreign
currency futures markets.
As Vice President, Audit for CME, Mr. Haworth conceived and implemented
the transition to a professional staff of certified public accountants,
using the latest audit techniques for the Exchange as the Designated
Self Regulatory Organization responsible for the member firms'
financial integrity. He served as Controller of Ralph N. Peters
& Co. managing the firm's back office for both futures and
securities operations, including government and regulatory reporting.
He served on the consulting and audit staff of Deloitte Touche LLC
(then Touche Ross & Company) working with firms in the
Insurance, Healthcare, and State and Local government areas.
A CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants as well as the Illinois CPA Society. He earned a bachelor
of science degree in actuarial science and an MBA in Accounting from
Drake University in Iowa.
Derek Haworth, Operating Officer
Derek previously worked as the Chief Technology Officer for GNI, Inc. -
a boutique Chicago FCM acquired by Man Financial in the fall of 2002.
At GNI Inc., Derek managed the first U.S. installation of Patsystems.
GNI, Inc. quickly became a forerunner in the U.S. electronic futures
trading arena. Derek grew and evolved along with the very first
employees of the various futures trading system companies - including
Patsystems and Trading Technologies. Derek has been involved with the
futures markets for over 15 years, working on the trading floor at the
CME and trading for his own account. He has been involved in the
technology industry for over 20 years and has significant experience in
both systems development and network architecting.
Derek has been able to parlay these experiences into creating a custom,
innovative electronic trading infrastructure for BCM - and
insfrastructure that's second to none in the industry.
